Inescapable

INESCAPABLE HAS a shot at being the hottest thing for lesbians at the film festival, but falls way short, coming off instead as a poorly acted, poorly written, inane piece of work whose pitfalls are exactly what the title suggests.

Sexual tension between Jessie and Chloe is palpable from the moment they meet each other — and this is perhaps supposed to be a plot twist since the two women’s partners are old college friends reunited for a work conference. But the storyline is transparent as a means to get to two girls naked on a kitchen floor (and a guest room floor, and a hotel shower, and a bed or two, and not-so-naked while standing upright in front of a window in the den).

Fans of 1992’s Claire of the Moon and its ilk might find something redeeming in Inescapable, but people who are looking for more than a Cinemax After Dark-style offering might want to wait for the next sex-themed thing. One thing strongly in this film’s favor is the actress who plays Chloe, who’s lovely to look at and isn’t shy about letting us look at her in all sorts of positions and states of undress.

Also playing in the program is the short film Just Another Thursday Night.
