Chili Night

Trade show features chili cook-off

The Alexandria Gay & Lesbian Community Association (AGLCA) is encouraging ”small, medium and large businesses ” to take part in its first GLBT Friendly Business Trade Show and Chili Cook Off Competition on Thursday, March 13, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Historic Lyceum, 201 S. Washington St. in Old Town, Alexandria.

”Press reports clearly indicate that [GLBT] consumers comprise a significant portion of the market in terms of buying power, disposable income, and interest in purchasing essential, above average, upscale, luxury goods or services, ” an AGLCA press release states, referencing a 2006 USA Today article.

In addition to the trade show, organizers of the event will also be judging chili, submitted by chefs of all levels, ranging from mild to caliente. Admission to the event is $5, and is free for all AGLCA members. For more information visit www.aglca.org.
