SE Man Suspected in Gay Homicide

Antwan Holcomb charged with murder in Anthony Perkins case

The Metropolitan Police Department has announced an arrest in the Dec. 27 homicide that left a 29-year old gay man, Anthony Perkins, dead from a gunshot wound.

Police charged Antwan Holcomb, 20, on March 12 with first-degree murder while armed in this case.

Perkins, of the 1800 block of T Street SE, was found shortly after 5 a.m. that Sunday morning following Christmas in his car with a single bullet wound to his head. He was parked on the 2900 block of 4th Street SE.

While the investigation is still underway, MPD Detective Michael Fulton says Holcomb allegedly lured Perkins to his neighborhood after speaking with him on a gay phone line, “DC Raven.”

”The victim went down there and we’re not quite sure what happened exactly inside the car, just that Perkins ended up getting shot one time in the head,” Fulton says. “A pack of Newport cigarettes is what was stolen from him.”

Fulton says Holcomb is not gay, and that he is facing multiple charges beyond the Perkins homicide. He’s been charged in two non-fatal Dec. 12 shootings and was arrested Jan. 12 for possession of a firearm.

Fulton adds MPD’s investigation points to Holcomb as the sole shooter, but that police are still looking for possible accomplices. Holcomb remains in MPD custody.
