Lisa Lampanelli donating $50K to gay charity in name of Westboro protestors

“And their signs? We should really do donations for them. Someone should help them buy some art supplies. They’re really not working. What would be better is if they hired some gay guys to help them with their signs, at least they’d have some pizazz.”

Comic Lisa Lampanelli, commenting on protest signs by members of the Westboro Baptist Church. Between 40 and 50 anti-gay protesters showed up to the comedian’s show at the Topeka Performing Arts Center after she Tweeted that she would donate $1,000 to the Gay Men’s Health Center for every Westboro protestor who showed up. Lapanelli traded public insults on Twitter with several of the WBC’s core members. They called her a Sasquatch and asked if she were so famous, why it was only $1,000. Lampanelli’s replies included these NSFW comments:

On a REALLY serious note: The a-holes at the WBC r protesting my show in Topeka Fri. If u r gay or gay-friend, u NEED 2 come to the show.

@WBCSteve Can’t wait 2 c u! A donation of $1,000 will b made IN UR NAME to the GMHC of NYC. Same 4 all ur followers. So pls all show up!

Gays ‘n gay-friendlys! Stand-up agst the WBC Fri! Their hate is lamer than Trump’s Presidential run & uglier than Arnold’s mistress.

@WBCPhotos There’s a reason there’s only 70 of you. I mean, how many times can u fuck ur cousins?

Hey @DearShirley – I’m writing out the 1st check in your name. Do you spell “Shirley Phelps” the regular way? Y’know, C-U-N-T? Just curious

Omg!! Just went outside with the crowd and chanted “we’re here, we’re queer, we take it in the rear!” + had gays making out in front of em

@MargieJPhelps says there were 48 protesters – not 44. So we’ll make it an even 50! $50,000 to GMHC! @GMHC_Online Thanks, Margie, u inbred!

Lisa Lampanelli will be performing at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, VA on June 3, 2011. There’s still time to enter Metro Weekly’s drawing for free tickets.
