Les Girls at the AFI Silver

Les Girls

As part of a two-month Gene Kelly retrospective, the American Film Institute’s Silver Theatre presents Gene Kelly’s final appearance in a full-blown musical — which was also Cole Porter’s final film score. George Cukor’s 1957 Les Girls is a frothy showbiz expose about competing versions, told in flashback during a libel trial, of what really happened — specifically, who was loving whom — among a dancing troupe. Nominated for three Oscars and winner of one, for best costumes. Also starring Mitzi Gaynor. Monday, March 19, and Tuesday, March 20, at 7:10 p.m. AFI Silver Theatre, 8633 Colesville Road, Silver Spring. Tickets are $12 general admission. Call 301-495-6720 or visit afi.com/Silver.
