CAMP Rehoboth kicks off the summer with its Black & White Beach Ball

BWBall_4.jpgIt looked like a scene from “The Artist” as more than 150 guests dressed in black and white clothes crowded the Clear Space Theatre Sunday for a cocktail reception and a chance to snag some great art.

The Black & White Beach Ball 2012 featured an auction of works by 25 invited artists, many represented by Rehoboth Beach galleries such as Philip Morton Gallery, Gallery 50, and Ward Ellinger Gallery. With support from presenting sponsor PNC Wealth Management, the event raised more then $15,000 for CAMP Rehoboth.

Washington, D.C. based artist Brian Petro was happy to contribute one of his works to the auction. “I love vacationing in Rehoboth Beach, and I have been a supporter of CAMP Rehoboth for nearly 10 years,” said Petro.

CAMP Rehoboth is the gay and lesbian community center for Rehoboth Beach, Del. For more than two decades, CAMP  Rehoboth has worked to “create a more positive” relationship among all the people of the Rehoboth Beach area. Its activities, events, and programs have greatly added to Rehoboth Beach’s appeal as a top gay-friendly destination.

Upcoming events sponsored by CAMP Rehoboth include the CAMP Bachelor Auction on June 16 and the 25th Annual Sundance on Labor Day weekend.  In addition, philanthropist Bruce Pfeufer and Mini Bear Graphics will present Typhone Judy, starring Christopher Peterson as Judy Garland.  A benefit for CAMP Rehoboth, the show will be held on July 28.
