The Keegan gets a Spring Awakening

2012 06 14 stage 7472 7347

Inspired by Frank Wedekind’s controversial 1891 play about teenage sexuality and society’s efforts to control it, Spring Awakening was the toast of Broadway in 2006, in no small part because of Duncan Sheik’s sensational rock score. Keegan Theatre presents what it bills as the first D.C. production — not counting the national tour, of course. The company’s own husband-and-wife team, Mark and Susan Marie Rhea, direct. Closes this Sunday, July 8. Church Street Theater, 1742 Church St. NW. Tickets are $35. Call 703-892-0202 or visit keegantheatre.com.
