Everyman Theatre opens major expansion with August: Osage County

August Osage

The Charm City’s once-scrappy, small Everyman Theatre has officially become a venerable institution, with the acquisition and multi-million-dollar refurbishment of a grand one hundred-year-old theater venue in the heart of downtown Baltimore. And the company kicks off its new identity and new space in as dramatic a fashion as possible: by staging the Baltimore premiere of Tracy Letts’s sprawling, explosive Pulitzer- and Tony-winning play August: Osage County. Everyman’s artistic director Vincent Lancisi helms the production starring Everyman members Bruce Randolph Nelson, Deborah Hazlett and Wil Love, as well as D.C. star Nancy Robinette. But all eyes will be on Linda Thorson (TV’s The Avengers, Broadway’s Noises Off) as the play’s pill-popping, fire-breathing matriarch. Now to Feb. 17. Everyman Theatre, 315 W. Fayette St., Baltimore. Call 410-752-22508 or visit everymantheatre.org.
