Google adds an extra dimension to “gay” searches

Google just added a special rainbow to its search results for terms like “gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, LGBT, GLBT” and even “queer.”

June is traditionally the month in which Gay Pride celebrations are held, but today also marks two monumental decisions made by the Supreme Court on same-sex marriage rights. The Court ruled that the Defense of Marriage Act was unconstitutional, and also rejected an appeal to keep California’s infamous Proposition 8 as law.

Google, Inc. has been a long and vocal supporter of the LGBT community and has made similar gestures in the past.
