New Ways Ministry welcomes pope’s comments on gay clergy

“Even if [Pope Francis] doesn’t drop the sin language, this is still a major step forward, and one that can pave the way for further advancements down the road.”

Francis DeBernardo, executive director of New Ways Ministry, “a 36-year-old national Catholic ministry of justice and reconciliation for LGBT and the wider church community,” from a July 29 statement responding to recent comments by Pope Francis in which the pope said, “If someone is gay and he searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?” as reported by The New York Times.
