Protester arrested while waving rainbow flag at Olympic torch relay

”Hosting the games here contradicts the basic principles of the Olympics, which is to cultivate tolerance.”

Pavel Lebedev, speaking with the Associated Press by phone from a police station in Voronezh, which is 560 miles north of Olympic host city Sochi. Lebedev unfurled a rainbow flag as the torch relay passed through his hometown and was then quickly detained by security personnel. Lebedev was protesting the hosting of the games in Russia following the passing last year of a bill banning homosexual propoganda. (Associated Press)
