Madonna, in an interview with Out magazine to promote her new album Rebel Heart, referring to the societal expectations placed on women and how quick people are to categorize them or force them into adhering to a certain mold.

According to Madonna, women are more likely to be criticized for things like their behavior or dress if it’s considered outside of the mainstream. “Women are still the most marginalized group,” she told the magazine. “They’re still the group that people won’t let change…. You’re still categorized — you’re still either a virgin or a whore. If you’re a certain age, you’re not allowed to express your sexuality, be single, or date younger men.”
