Gay Men's Peer Counseling is provided by volunteers who are gay men who receive ongoing training and supervision in active listening, problem solving and various concerns facing gay and bisexual men. Peer counseling and support is provided to individuals and couples who are dealing with relationships, jobs, health concerns, coming out or other challenges. Established in 1978, Whitman-Walker Clinic is a non-profit, community-based provider of health care in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area. Through two sites in the District of Columbia (Elizabeth Taylor Medical Center in NW, Max Robinson Center in SE), the Clinic offers primary medical and dental care; mental health and addictions counseling and treatment; HIV education, prevention, and testing; legal services; and medical adherence case management.
