Nellie's wins Shaw neighborhood poll

An annual poll asking Shaw residents to pick their favorite new business puts Nellie's Sports Bar, located at 900 U St. NW, in the No. 1 slot. The poll was conducted by Shaw Main Streets Inc. (SMS), a non-profit organization that works to revitalize the Seventh and Ninth Streets NW commercial corridors of the Shaw area. SMS made the announcement at its annual meeting on Tuesday, March 18. Nellie's owners Rocio Anzola and Douglas Schantz were on hand to accept the award. Convention Floral, a florist shop on Ninth Street came in second place, followed by the Old Dominion Brewhouse, another sports bar also located on Ninth Street.
