Odd Mob: Hit man plays gay card during plea for reduced sentence of Mafia crimes

''He was summoned to perform an act that he found totally unacceptable afterward. He did follow through, but he found the incident to be so disagreeable shortly after that he started having strong thoughts about leaving the mob.... He has been openly gay since he left the mob.''

Nancy Ennis, defense lawyer for Robert Mormando. Her client is a former mob hit man and member of La Cosa Nostra, and surprised the judge by 1) renouncing his membership in the mob, and 2) coming out gay, which is said to be a cultural taboo among the organized criminal set.
