''You are bidding on the original letter given to me by my former husband when he decided to "come out of the closet" and face me (his wife at the time), and our kids, to let us know of his sexual preference. I do not know what it is worth , yet, to us and to a lot of people who would have been through a similar situation, the sentimental value is just priceless. This is a story of love, but not just any story.....it is the greatest of them all.....'' -- Portion of wife's introduction to eBay listing
''... I have always enjoyed your company and the love existing between us, yet there is something I wanted to let you know sooner, rather than later. I AM GAY....'' -- Portion of Robert's letter
A wife explaining why she is placing an alleged coming out letter from her husband, Robert, on the online auction site eBay. The letter is dated May 5, 2008, and the explanation details a meeting between her family and Robert's gay partner, John. Although, a news story that appeared in the Australian paper, The Daily Telegraph, said that the letter was pay back, a reposting of the deleted item now says that she is trying to pay her mortgage and that this letter was the most valuable thing in the house.
