"Oregon agencies must recognize all out-of-state marriages for the purposes of administering state programs. That includes legal, same sex marriages performed in other states and countries."
Oregon state's Chief Operating Officer, Michael Jordan, in a memo sent to all state agencies today, that opens the door for all same-sex couples legally married in another state or country to be eligible for the same benefits as heterosexual marriages. Oregon doesn't yet allow same-sex marriage, but a 2014 ballot initiative is in place to overturn the constitutional ban -- which is also being challenged by a separate case in the Oregon federal court.
