The Associated Press has released a video showing Cossack militia attacking members of Russian punk group Pussy Riot. The protest group, known for their provocative guerrilla performances, tried to perform under a sign advertising the Sochi Winter Olympics but were swiftly stopped by security personnel. Pussy Riot has frequently clashed with Putin's government for advocating LGBT rights, feminism and opposition to Putin, who the group regard as a dictator.

Wearing ski masks and balaclavas, signature items for the group's members, the video shows Russian security whipping and beating the group, as well as forcibly removing their headgear, as they attempt to halt the performance.
