Sargent and the Sea at The Corcoran Gallery

Setting Out to Fish by Sargent.jpgJohn Singer Sargent, the preeminent American expatriate painter of the late 19th Century, is the focus of The Corcoran Gallery's “Sargent and the Sea,” gathering more than 80 paintings, watercolors and drawings depicting seascapes and coastal scenes from his early career in Europe. The centerpiece of the exhibition is the Corcoran’s own En Route pour la pêche (Setting out to Fish). On display through Jan. 3, 2010. Corcoran Gallery of Art, 500 17th St. NW. Tickets are $10.
