BSO Season Opens tonight

Marin Alsop opens the new season of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, celebrating the life and music of Gustav Mahler with the legendary conductor/composer's arrangement of music from Bach's orchestral suites including the famous "Air on a G String," followed by one of his most powerful pieces, Mahler's Seventh Symphony. Friday, Sept. 24, at 8 p.m. Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, 1212 Cathedral St., Baltimore. Also Saturday, Sept. 25, at 8 p.m. Music Center at Strathmore, 5301 Tuckerman Lane, North Bethesda.
