Art: Local artist Frank Muzzy is literally exposing himself for this year&#39;s Art for Life&#44; the annual Whitman&#45;Walker Clinic art auction benefit&#46; A noted painter of D&#46;C&#46; architectural scenes&#44; Muzzy this year has contributed a self&#45;portrait photograph&#44; &#39;&#39;Red Bear&#44;&#39;&#39; a close&#45;up of his beard and his furry bare&#45;chest&#44; with a red bandana tied around his neck&#46; Red Bear&#39; Chances are&#44; the bids will be high for Muzzy&#44; whom the clinic is honoring for regularly donating his art to the cause&#44; alongside two other local gay artists&#44; Michael Wise and Rob Kleinsteuber&#46; Wise has offered a beautifully colored photograph of an autumn scene&#46; A male&#45;nude specialist&#44; Kleinsteuber has contributed a mixed&#45;media piece called &#39;&#39;Steambath&#46;&#39;&#39; &#39;&#39;It&#39;s pretty much exactly what you think it is&#44;&#39;&#39; chuckles Whitman&#45;Walker&#39;s Mike Wilkinson&#44; in charge of the event&#44; now in its 15th year&#46;  ... Art: Since March 10&#44; the tone at Long View Gallery &#40;1302 Ninth St&#46; NW&#59; 202&#45;232&#45;4788&#41; has been set by painter Gerard Erley&#44; whose show Poetic Landscape is on display through April 2&#46; It may be more apt to report that rather than setting the tone&#44; he&#39;s setting the &#39;&#39;Tonalism&#46;&#39;&#39; &#39;&#39;I kind of key into older work&#44;&#46;&#46;&#46;particularly a school of American art called Tonalism&#44;&#39;&#39; says Erley&#44; referring to the late 19th century style of landscape paintings that might be called moody and misty&#46; Though Erley looks to Tonalism&#44; he&#39;s also looking up&#46; Erley &#39;&#39;Landscape painters focus on the land&#44;&#39;&#39; he says&#46; &#39;&#39;A lot of my work is very sky&#45;focused&#46; I like the boundlessness&#46; I&#39;m kind of moonstruck&#46;&#39;&#39;  ... 	<title>With Feeling: DC artist Andrew Hudson&#39;s new show at the Geoffrey Diner Gallery</title>

Art: Andrew Hudson&#39;s life has always revolved around art&#46; The native of Birmingham&#44; England&#44; who ended up in Washington in 1965&#44; has painted&#44; studied&#44; taught and even critiqued other artists&#39; work throughout his long career&#46; Now&#44; after more than 35 years of teaching history and writing at the Corcoran College of Art &#38; Design&#44; the founder of the school&#39;s Department of Academic Studies is sharing artwork he created three years ago in new exhibit titled &#39;&#39;Paintings and Drawings from 2003&#44;&#39;&#39; on display through Dec&#46; 14 at the Geoffrey Diner Gallery&#46; It&#39;s Hudson&#39;s first show in 10 years&#46; Hudson &#39;&#39;I had a sabbatical year from school&#44; so I could spend more time in the studio&#44;&#39;&#39; he says&#46; &#39;&#39;It was like a rebirth&#44; a wonderful space to have time to do art&#44; and I began working with models&#44; which I hadn&#39;t done for some time&#46; It&#39;s not too unlike the work &#91;I did&#93; 20 years ago&#44; except it&#39;s not done in the same medium&#46; &#91;Those&#93; I did in colored pastel canvas&#44; and they were larger&#46; These are done in acrylic in canvas&#46;&#39;&#39;  ...
