Twenties Group

Mission: A social and discussion group for GLBT men in their twenties.

Founded: 1990

Number of Members: There is no formal membership — approximately 20 men show up for weekly discussions, usually followed by dinner at a local restaurant.

How to Join: Anyone interested can attend the discussions or sign up for the Twenties Group newsletter at www.twentiesgroup.org.

Background: From camping in the Shenandoah Mountains to weekly meeting in St. Margaret’s Church, the Twenties Group is excellent social outlet. Group facilitator Kevin Faria says the Twenties Group was a great resource in the early days of his coming out. “I hadn’t been out too long when I first joined the group so I didn’t have a network of [gay] friends.” Faria says the group was a wonderful way to meet new people in a relaxed environment.

Contact: Visit www.twentiesgroup.org to find more information and sign up for their newsletter.

Next Event: The weekly discussion will be held this Friday, November 14, at 7:30 p.m. in St. Margaret’s Church, 1820 Connecticut Avenue (entrance in the back).
