The Howard Theatre re-opens

After decades of abandoned decay, the Howard Theatre, the former “Black Broadway” venue, now 102 years old, will finally re-open on Monday, April 9, with a Community Day ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by a performance by D.C.’s homegrown rapper Wale. After an all-star Grand Opening Gala and Tribute Concert exclusively for donors on Thursday, April 12, D.C. native lesbian comic Wanda Sykes takes over the venue, performing every night next weekend. The Howard Theatre, 620 T St. NW. Call 202-588-5595 or visit thehowardtheatre.com for more details.
