Polaroid’s print-producing Z2300

Polaroid

Remember those good old days of Polaroid? Well, maybe you don’t, but I sure do — the fun of snapping a picture and watching in utter astonishment as it materialized before your eyes, in just about two minutes. I actually own an old Polaroid Swinger — though god knows if it works — and recently unearthed a Polaroid taken of me 30 years ago. Remarkably, the colors are still as vibrant and eye-popping as ever. And there’s been very little fading, if any. It was, in essence, the pre-digital digital camera.

As we now reside in the world of digital photography, which brings new meaning to the term instant gratification, Polaroid has crept back on the scene with a 10MP digital camera that produces instant photographs — and allows you to print 2 by 3 inch copies directly from the camera’s built-in printer. The New York Times recently reported on the Z2300, noting that the prints are “smudge-proof, tear-resistant and adhesive (if you can peel off the stubborn paper backing).” The Times also pointed out that the prints were fairly pricy — about fifty cents per shot — and that the quality of the prints are “generally low quality.”

The camera features a 3 inch color LCD for image viewing and is SD compatible for up to 32GB of expanded memory.

Polaroid’s Z2300 sells for $199 on Amazon and comes in either black or white.
