My cut off date has finally arrived. I’ve ended my bulk and started my cut, jumping in with a Protein Sparing Modified Fast for a little kick start (lets be honest, I want to be as lean as possible for halloween) and will transition to the normal cutting cycle in a week. I’ve also changed up my diet to include less overall volume and added 20 minutes of cardio after my lifting. I should shed the pounds in no time!

While I’m busy doing that, check out these links from around the web. Some great information underneath those cleverly worded intro sentences.

CrossFit and Strongman are two things I never thought I would see combined, but leave it to the internet to do just that. Strongman WOD is the heavy hitter version of CrossFit’s Work Out of the Day. [StrongmanWOD]

I sometimes get worried when I see people executing movements in the gym with poor form. It can lead to serious injury, and after that, a death-blow to your motivation. For that reason, Men’s Fitness has a short, but very effective, list of exercises that have a high rate of injury. [MensFitness]

T-Nation is diving into one of the more highly debated topics on the web. Six small meals, or three larger ones? The results are less than solid, but interesting. [T-Nation]

In today’s grooming selection, designer Tom Ford is taking a refreshingly honest approach to cosmetics: “The moisturizer improves the look of your skin — it does not make you look younger. To get real anti-aging products, go to your dermatologist or get a laser treatment.” [AskMen]

The jury is still out on the different types of muscle fibers and what exactly they accomplish in the body. However, it doesn’t hurt to change your training a bit to take advantage of a possible physiological effect. Here’s an article over at T-Nation that covers the differences in the Type I, Type IIa, and Type IIb fibers. [T-Nation]

Recently, a pilot study (so remember to take it with a strong pinch of salt) examined the results of taking ATP in 400mg doses orally. The results? Increased muscle mass, size, and performance. Pilot studies are notorious for being overly positive, however, so I’d wait for another study before running out and buying ATP supplements. [SuppVersity]

IFBB’s biggest competition — The Mr. Olympia — wrapped up this weekend, with Phil Heath taking home his third title. However, through several competitions, Kai Greene has been a repeat favorite without actually ever winning. He was runner up, yet again, this year. Hear him opine on this and more in a short interview he did following the competition. [FlexOnline]

In the world of male grooming, some like it hairy and others don’t. For those that don’t, here is a product that not only works well, but has a clever name — sure to start a conversation with someone who notices it in your bathroom. [BallsBalm]

Immediately following rugby practice last week, all I could think about was taking an ice bath followed by a hot shower. That’s suppose to help you recover, right? According to Medical News Today, though, you may want to reconsider before jumping in the tub. Runners who took ice baths showned no increase in recovery, size, or strength. Hopes dashed. [MNT]
