Annise Parker, speaking with CultureMap Houston after international think tank City Mayors Foundation named her the seventh best mayor in the world for 2014 — a ranking higher than any other U.S. mayor. The foundation ranks mayors based on feedback from citizens, taking into account achievements and overall public support.

“Being mayor of Houston is the best political job in the world,” Parker, who married her wife last year, added. It provides the opportunity to shape the future of one of the great American cities. I am humbled that others view this work as worthy of being right up there with the accomplishments of my mayoral colleagues around the world.”
