An intimate and nostalgic musical chronicling 50 years of life and love, this two-person Broadway classic was created by the writing team behind "The Fantasticks" and garnered seven Tony Award nominations in 1967. The story begins on the wedding day of Michael and Agnes and follows the perils and triumphs of marriage, children, arguments and more. Village Theatre’s production features Kendra Kassebaum ("RENT, Wicked") and Peter Saide ("Desperate Measures", "Cinderella"). "All's Well That Ends Well" is a fairy tale of love and war. It’s a world in decline where leaders are failing and wars loom large. Smart and unwavering, Helena has pinned her heart to Bertram. He wants nothing to do with her and runs off to the wars for adventure and to escape his newly arranged marriage. So Helena follows him. Overcoming obstacles and aided by a fantastic collection of comic characters, the two begin separate journeys towards each other, both learning about the paradox of holding love tight as well as letting go. And still she persisted. Not only is Shakespeare’s “serious comedy” modern in its discussion about the complicated relationships between men and women, but it’s also rich in examining differing generational views on how to find your own way in the world. See "All's Well That Ends Well" at Center Theatre in Seattle. [less-]

From the duo who created last year's award-winning hit "Seattle Vice" comes a new cabaret about love, classical music, art nouveau, green fairies and absinthe. "Bohemia" by Mark Siano and Opal Peachey is a new musical set in 1890s Prague that combines the music of Dvorák and Chopin, with art by Alphonse Mucha. Historic artists like Sarah Bernhardt and George Sand interweave with beautiful green fairies, aerial numbers, dance, burlesque, classical piano battles, comedy and original songs. Famous Czech composer Antonin Dvorák has hit a wall and prior to composing his magnum opus he looks to the bottom of a bottle of absinthe for inspiration. In this macabre and mystical dream cabaret, Dvorák is visited by the ghost of late composer Frederick Chopin. Chopin and many other famous Bohemians guide Dvorák as they search for the true source of inspiration and grasp at artistic immortality. "Bohemia" is coming to The Triple Door in Seattle. [less-]

Ever feel like everything is possible and nothing at all? Brayton does. He’s 25, his best friend just got married, and now he’s alone. Primed for a new adventure, Brayton travels across the U.S. over 10 winters, yearning for a reason to stop running. Journeying through fake friends, lost pets, love battles, and technology of the future, "25-35" at Seattle's Theatre Off Jackson bravely tears into the taboo subject of loneliness that plagues Americans, particularly men. Before he steps out on the ice, Brayton must decide how much of himself he can give to others in this rap musical with one performer. Tré Calhoun is a performer, musician and social justice playwright who tells a cautioning tale inspired by his memoirs. Wesley Frugé directs Calhoun’s delicate and riveting adventure through young adulthood, in which one actor plays over seven characters. Stage managed by Hazel Rose Gibson. [less-]

"Red" took Broadway by storm in 2010 with its portrait of painter Mark Rothko's ambition and vulnerability. The winner of that year's Tony Award for Best Play, this daring drama picks up with Rothko in the early 1960s, after he has just landed the biggest commission in the history of modern art -- a series of murals for New York's famed Four Seasons Restaurant. Working feverishly in his studio in the Bowery with his brash young assistant, Ken, Rothko struggles to complete what he hopes will be his crowning achievement while also facing the possibility that the project could become his undoing.
