Now everyone can have a window seat on Delta Airlines!

Hey, this is pretty awesome, folks. Delta Air Lines has released an iPad app whose features include a “glass bottomed” view at the ground beneath the plane. Can you just imagine a cabin full of people all staring into their laps?

Okay, so it’s not live live, but rather a combination of maps, satellite imagery, photos, social media updates and other sundry internet content. Still, pretty darn cool. And it can be used on any of Delta’s 800 WiFi enabled aircraft. Unfortunately, the Delta flight Technocrat will be taking later this year as it makes its way to E3 (let’s check on that countdown clock, shall we?) is run by Alaska airlines, which apparently hasn’t yet discovered the joys of WiFi. But what else would you expect from the state that gave us Sarah Palin? (On the plus side, it’s the state that also gave us Dr. Joel Fleischman. Sort of.)

UPDATE: According to Metro Weekly airline guru Will O’Bryan, “Alaska Airlines has currently fitted all of its Boeing 737-800 aircraft with inflight WiFi.” Technocrat stands corrected. And it still adores Dr. Joel Fleischman and despises Sarah Palin. It’s on the fence regarding caribou.

UPDATE #2: According to Metro Weekly grammar warden Will O’Bryan (he’s very busy when he’s not home pretending his hangover from MAL Weekend is the flu), Delta Airlines is really Delta Air Lines. It’s been fixed. Can you please put the whip down now, Wilhelm?
