Vatican considers being less judgemental towards gays

“When people living in such unions request a child’s baptism, almost all the responses emphasise that the child must be received with the same care, tenderness and concern which is given to other children.”

Vatican

An excerpt from “Instrumentum Laboris,” a 75-page report intended for a synod of bishops this October, stating that the Vatican should be less inhospitable to children of gay parents — who are frequently prevented from joining in any Church-related activities. The Church still opposes same-sex marriage and gay adoption, but the language used in the report is much more compassionate than that currently in use by the Vatican, which has previously called homosexuality “an intrinsic moral evil“.
