The Fosters’ creator defends gay teen kiss

“If people want to judge it, I think maybe they should watch and see how carefully, delicately and chastely it was handled.”

Peter Paige, co-creator of ABC Family’s The Fosters, speaking with The Wrap. Paige was commenting on criticism of the show’s Tuesday episode, which featured TV’s youngest ever same-sex kiss between two 13-year-old male characters.

“We are not here to sensationalize or exploit anyone,” Paige, who starred in Showtime’s Queer as Folk, added. “It took two full seasons to build up to this one very simple, but very important moment.”
