Have the recent winter storms left you longing to escape to a warmer destination or craving a change of scenery? This weekend’s 12th Annual Washington DC Travel & Adventure Show might be just what you need.

For two days, Feb. 20 and 21, the Walter E. Washington Convention Center becomes your passport to global travel. Hundreds of tourism exhibitors and travel experts will be representing thousands of travel destinations — from Key West and the U.K. to Provincetown and Belize.

In addition, there will be be hands-on activities for participants such as scaling the show’s rock climbing wall, sponsored by River & Trail Outfitters, or having a scuba experience in an 18,000-gallon heated dive pool — facilitated by the DEMA “Be a Diver” program.

A number of celebrity travel experts will also be making presentations, including CBS News travel editor Peter Greenberg, The Amazing Race’s Phil Keoghan, and local favorite David Guas, host of The Travel Channel’s American Grilled.

John Golicz, chief executive officer and founder of the Washington DC Travel & Adventure Show, advocates attending the show as a smart, cost-effective way for travel enthusiasts to find, plan and book their dream vacation.

“People flock to our events because they know that while the Internet and guide books contain great information, they are not always reliable. At the Travel & Adventure Show they get first-hand knowledge from people who are either from the travel destination or have traveled extensively in the region.”

Washington DC Travel & Adventure Show is Saturday, Feb. 20, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, Feb. 21, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, 801 Mount Vernon Place, NW. Tickets are $12 in advance ($11 with promo code GTVIP), or $16 onsite. Visit travelshows.com.
