Ann Kiernan Smith, 82, mother of Hillary Goodridge who was married to her lesbian partner, Julie Goodridge, four years ago when same-sex marriage became legal in Massachusetts. They were the gay first couple to wed in the United States, however they broke up in July of 2006 and have reportedly filed for divorce today. They have shared custody of their 12-year-old daughter.
