Rumor of anti-Mormon rally is unfounded

”Our goal has never been to interfere with the religious liberty of the Mormon Church. We are opposed to the idea of a rally.”

Will Carlson, public policy manager for Equality Utah, reacting to an e-mail and blogger rumor that claims Salt Lake City has prepared for 100,000 protesters that will be showing up to disrupt the Mormon LDS General Conference in April. This article says neither the police nor any gay groups that were contacted have acknowledge any knowledge of plans for such a protest by members of the gay community.
