Foul Weather and Food

Four-wheeled friends needed for Food and Friends meal deliveries Tuesday

In order to keep ahead of additional snowfall expected to hit D.C. midweek, Food and Friends has put out an urgent call for delivery volunteers. The organization, providing free, home-delivered meals to roughly 1,400 seriously ill clients — including many with AIDS-related illnesses — in the region, has particular need of volunteers with four-wheel-drive vehicles.

Ideally, Food and Friends is hoping to find 11 volunteers to report to the organization’s headquarters, 219 Riggs Road NE, on Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 10 a.m. At noon, an additional 33 volunteers are needed for deliveries. Each shift lasts approximately three hours.

Anyone with questions about this call for volunteers is asked to call Food and Friends at 202-841-5347. For more information about the organization, visit foodandfriends.org.
