Snowmageddon 2010

DC residents gather for fun snowball fight in Dupont Circle after rare blizzard

Residents of Washington, DC used Facebook to organize a gathering of hundreds to engage in a fun snowball fight. The unsponsored event drew local and national media attention and was broadcast live on many TV stations including CNN.

This video features the latter part of the event when it moved to the north side of the Dupont Circle park. Several cars were caught in the crossfire. Police showed up as the sun went down. They asked the crowd to disperse but there were no reports of conflict, perhaps because a month earlier, after another major snowfall, much controversy occurred when an officer pulled out his handgun at a similar gathering on U Street.
