“A-Team” movie’s “Ultimate Fighter” uses “gay” in negative context

“Acting is kind of gay,” Jackson said. “It makes you soft. You got all these people combing your hair and putting a coat over your shoulders when you’re cold. I don’t want a coat over my shoulders! I’m a tough-ass [individual]!”

Portion of an article about Rampage Jackson, a first-time film actor who has made his living, until now, as a star contender in the Ultimate Fighting ring. It would seem that this inconsiderate statement combined with his use of more off-color language has made Jackson a target of media derision. It is not clear what makes this fighter’s comment particularly noteworthy, except that his new “A-Team” movie is about to arrive in theaters. In fact, the second curse word that he’s sort of quoted as saying is “12 letters” long. (The reporter states in his article that he would substitute “individual” in place of the offending word.) And, in context, it’s rather obvious that the word in question begins with “motherf*,” yet, secondary news sources like NY Daily News are assuming it’s an anti-gay slur, which is not what the original LA Times article says.
