UK singer Joe McElderry says he is gay after Twitter hacker outs him

”I’m so happy. It’s all been so recent to be honest. Over the past couple of weeks I’ve had time to think and come to realise who I am. I have grown up a lot….  I’m single, I’ve not had a relationship with a boy, but I just know. It’s how I feel. The Twitter thing actually helped because I realised I wasn’t that bothered, and the penny dropped….  Simon was 100% supportive.”

Joe McElderry, 19, a singer who won the 2009 season of “X Factor,” a UK TV talent show produced by Simon Cowell of “American Idol” fame. A month before doing this interview with the Daily Mirror, McElderry’s Twitter account was allegedly hacked by a third party who posted a fake coming out message. He appears to be saying here that the Twitter incident helped him to realize that he really is attracted to men. Daily Mirror adds that he says he has kissed only one guy so far, and hadn’t had time to think about whether he was gay or not up to this point. (Mirror.co.uk)
