Joe McElderry encourages gay X-Factor contestants to ‘go for it’ [video]

”I was nervous about it but I’m glad I’ve done it and I can now move forward and get on with the rest of my life. I wasn’t pressured into doing it. It was all my own decision…. Just talk about it when you feel ready. When you make that decision, just go for it.”

Joe McElderry, the teenage winner of “X-Factor” (another popular Simon Cowell TV singing competition held in UK). He tells Metro magazine that his coming out as gay this past summer was not “traumatic.” He says that taking his clothes off for a photo shoot would be a gimmick tht he’s not interested in, yet he does appear shirtless in a new promotional video.
