Francis DeBernardo, executive director of New Ways Ministry, “a 36-year-old national Catholic ministry of justice and reconciliation for LGBT and the wider church community,” from a July 29 statement responding to recent comments by Pope Francis in which the pope said, “If someone is gay and he searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?” as reported by The New York Times.
