Started in 1991, the pageant is a hilarious spoof of the world-famous Miss America Pageant as drag queens strut their stuff down the runway to be judged in the categories of swimsuit, talent, evening gown and the judges’ interview. Along with the crown, the 2013 Miss’d America winner will receive cash and prizes, and will make multiple appearances throughout her reigning year. Sabel Scities, Miss’d America 2012, will crown the winner and give a farewell performance.
Michelle Visage, from RuPaul’s Drag Race, will serve as this year’s celebrity host with special music guest CeCe Peniston. The Melanie Rice Orchestra will provide live music for the event. Mark Dahl, manager of LGBT nightlife for Resorts Casino will serve as writer and director of the pageant.
