Gay adult performer Alfonso Osnaya says he was “knocked out” outside Beaux, an LGBTQ bar in San Francisco’s Castro District, after a group of men mocked his work in the adult industry.
Osnaya told Out that the September 17 confrontation began inside the bar. He said he walked away, but the men confronted him outside.
“I took the bait from some judgmental comments and I was alone,” Osnaya said. “They were waiting for me outside. I got knocked out, and the next thing I knew, I had the people from Beaux helping me out while the paramedics and cops did their job. Everyone was very sweet, and thankfully, nothing serious happened.”
Osnaya said the men claimed to know who he was and what he did for a living. He began working in the adult industry in 2021 and has worked for studios including Falcon, Trailer Trash Boys, SayUncle, Carnal, and Lucas Entertainment.
“They were instigating things,” he told Out. “They were out looking for a fight. I should’ve disengaged.”
Shortly after the incident, Osnaya posted a photo to his Instagram Story showing a cut above his right eyebrow. He captioned it: “This is how s*** shaming looks like.”
Even within the LGBTQ community, adult performers can face stigma — including accusations that they are promiscuous, immoral or “dirty” — particularly in dating and nightlife spaces. The alleged attack on Osnaya underscores that LGBTQ spaces and neighborhoods may not always be accepting of sex workers or adult performers.
The status of any police investigation remains unclear.
"We currently have only one gay bar in Northern Virginia -- Freddie's Beach Bar in Arlington," says SC Nealy. "Freddie's is wonderful and has been a great thing to have in our community, but we don't have any female-centered spaces in the area. And I've repeatedly heard how often people want that and have looked for that."
Nealy aims to change that by opening a lesbian bar in Arlington by the fall of 2027. A licensed professional counselor and owner of the LGBT+ Counseling Collaborative, she is currently searching for a suitable location.
She plans to name the venue Lilli's Bar in honor of the late Dr. Lilli Vincenz, a pioneering activist and the first lesbian member of the Mattachine Society of Washington.
Long Beach police arrested a man accused of making violent threats in the comments of a social media post promoting the Big Gay Flotilla, an annual informal gay beach party and meet-up where attendees bring pool floats and water gear to swim, sunbathe, and socialize.
The man was among several people who commented on an event flyer posted to the Instagram account of Long Beach Classic, a local news website. The AI-generated flyer promoted the "Big Gay Float Party in Long Beach," scheduled for August 8 at Horny Corner in Belmont Shore, and depicted gay men in swimming trunks, including one wearing a rainbow-colored thong and walking into the water.
"It started as an excuse to get people together," says Fergus O'Brien, a local realtor who prefers to go by his first name, referring to the monthly gathering he has organized for a decade and that, until this week, was known as "DIK Bar Bear Happy Hour."
"Over time, it became a community of its own, and it's always evolving," Fergus adds. "People come to catch up with old friends, meet new ones, and enjoy a setting where conversation doesn't have to compete with loud music. It's really about bringing people together and all that entails."
