Stein Democratic Club Elects Officers

Members of the Gertrude Stein Democratic Club, among the District’s most influential gay organizations, elected officers for the coming year at the club’s Nov. 19 meeting.

Mario Acosta-Velez will remain as president for 2008. Jeff Marootian, who has served as the Stein Club’s secretary, has been elected its vice president for political affairs, replacing Darrin Bowie, who did not seek re-election. Darrin Glymph will remain as the club’s second vice president of administration, while Tim Mahoney remains as treasurer.

At the Stein Club’s next regular meeting, scheduled for Dec. 17, the group is expected to elect a secretary for 2008, as well as vote on the issue of whether or not voting membership should be limited to registered Democrats.
