Alan Sues, Laugh-In’s resident flamboyant, dies at 85

Michael Gregg Michaud, a friend of the comic Alan Sues, who passed away on Sunday night. Sues was a flamboyant presence on Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In, and while it was alluded to that he was gay, it was never publicly acknowledged on the show. In later years, Sues gave interviews to gay publications and talked about his homosexuality openly. Among his more memorable Laugh-Incharacters: an effeminate sportscaster known as “Big Al,” and a perpetually hung-over children’s show host. Sues, 85, died of cardiac arrest. (New York Daily News)
