Hillwood’s Haute Holidays

Hillwood Museum holds annual Russian Winter Festival

HillwoodThe most stylish eras of the 20th century, as seen in the special exhibition Ingenue to Icon: 70 Years of Fashion from the Collection of Marjorie Merriweather Post, on display through Dec. 31, are the inspiration for glamorous Christmas trees and festive décor across Hillwood.

The “Haute Holidays” festivities include a tour led by Jason Gedeik, Hillwood’s head of design, on Thursday, Dec. 10, and Friday, Dec. 11, at 12:45 p.m. Next Saturday, Dec. 12, and Sunday, Dec. 13, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Hillwood presents its annual Russian Winter Festival, with characters including Grandfather Frost and the Snow Maiden enacting the old Russian winter custom of mumming — dressing up in costume and visiting friends.

At the Hillwood Estate, 4155 Linnean Ave. NW. Suggested donation is $12, or $18 during the Russian Winter Festival. Call 202-686-5807 or visit HillwoodMuseum.org.
