D.C. drafts a new GLBT resource directory

The Mayor’s Office of LGBT Affairs announced recently the release of a comprehensive directory listing GLBT-related organizations, ranging from A Common Bond, a group for current or former gay Jehovah’s Witnesses, to the lesbian-focused Women In Their Twenties group.

The directory opens with an alphabetical listing of the dozens represented organizations, including a description of each group’s focus. The second portion of the directory divides the organizations into 11 distinct categories: Advocacy, Arts, Education, Faith, HIV/AIDS, Mental Health, Philanthropy, Social, Sports, Substance Abuse or Support Group.

The 46-page directory is being offered in PDF format via the District government’s Web site. The directory, which is intended to be updated regularly, can be accessed via the LGBT Affairs site, http://lgbt.dc.gov.
