”Trying to hard? I’ve rather always try too than not hard enough…. I just want to please everyone that I can do. You know, I’ve got a lot of people to please, because there a lot of people that don’t seem like me too much. So, I’ve got somewhere to go.”

Singer Daryl Johnson, reacting to criticism of his performance of WHAM!‘s ”Careless Whisper” for the hit UK show “X-Factor.” Johnson has mentioned in the past that he’s a big flirt and has been with both men and women. His performances have been a bit uneven, but he remains in the top 5 contestants for the show. You can follow the performances online at YouTube or ITV.(TheXFactorUK via YouTube) (ITV)

”It was meant to be a humorous moment about the fact he had an opportunity to have fun with his song, an openly bi-sexual guy singing a song that is lyrically a ‘girl’s song.”

UK dance diva Dannii Minogue, joking badly in October with contestant Danyl Johnson, on the UK TV show ”X-Factor,” which is another talent show created by Simon Cowell. Johnson had just finished singing ”And I Am Telling You,” but changed the words to ”You’re the best girl I’ve ever known” from ”You’re the best man.” She said, ”If we’re to believe everything you read in the paper, maybe you didn’t need to change the gender reference in it.” The remark was not well received by the audience or Cowell, but Johnson later said he wasn’t offended.
