List of award nominees from the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation or GLAAD, an organization who advocates for positive portrayals of LGBT images in varioius media forms. They also serve as a watchdog for negative depictions, and often send out public letters of criticism, sometimes stepping on the toes of gay fans — the recent South Park episode that tried to diffuse the word “fag” for instance. But their Media Awards show has grown into a significant Hollywood event and always gets attention in the mainstream press, though they have had some criticism for purposefully excluding the efforts of gay-specific media outlets in the past.
