Women commit hate crimes: Gay man robbed, lesbian stabbed in two separate attacks in Buffalo, NY [video]

”I hope the police catch the woman who stabbed me. I want to sit in front of her and ask her how and why you do this…. I just remember saying, ‘What did you say?’ … It’s just crazy to me. I’d never think anyone would say that in the main gay area of Buffalo. I’ve been going to Roxy’s for like 10 years.”

Lindsay Harmon, 29, who says she was with her girlfriend and another woman who had left a Buffalo-area gay club, Roxy’s, when two other women started shouting hateful remarks at them. After stepping out of the car Harmon was attacked by a woman who apparently had a knife and stabbed her in the eye. Harmon says she does not yet know what the final condition of her eye will be, but she is glad it wasn’t significantly worse. The alleged attacker is said to be still on loose, and is described as a white female, 19-23, who had been wearing a tiara. (The Buffalo News)

”We had a bunch of individuals who targeted a man they believed to be gay. They went after him for that reason and that reason only.”

Cheektowaga Police Captain James Spyer, who says two women — Joy Darden, 18, and Deonna Burnett, 19 — were arrested for attacking a 20-year-old gay man inside the Walden Galleria. According to WKBW, they face hate crimes, assault and other charges. The vicim reportedly did not suffer “serious injuries” during the New Year’s Eve incident. Though, WGRZ reports that the women did steal $1,000 from the man, then damaged his car and left a note stating “their hatred for him.” (WKBW) (WGRZ)
