Gay Republicans, GOProud, draw attention at Conservative conference, CPAC [video]

”It’s the ultimate Washington power grab to say let’s have a federal constitutional amendment that will federalize the question of marriage.”

Christopher Barron of GOProud (pronounced “go proud”), a new gay Republican group that has attracted media attention at the Conservative Political Action Committee conference this week by sponsoring the event and setting up a booth right near the National Organization for Marriage. NOM, which is headed by Maggie Gallagher and Brian Brown , is the extremely anti-gay political group that has contributed to much of the effort to block and repeal legalized marriage for gay and lesbian couples. This CNN video shows representatives for NOM and GOProud shaking hands and proposing a “beer summit” to mock the racially-charged media event held by President Barack Obama at the White House last year.
