NYT reports 89-year-old lesbian struggling to recall her lead at 1969 Stonewall riots

”He wound up flat on his back on the ground. I don’t know what he hit me with. He hit me from behind, the coward.”

Storme DeLarverie, 89, a member of Stonewall Veterans, who is in a nursing home and combating dementia. It is reported that an attack by police on DeLaverie may have been the catalyst that started the original Stonewall bar riots in 1969.
